Glossary

Wet Slip

An in-water boat storage berth where the boat stays floating year-round (or season-long), tied to a dock with cleats or piling lines.

Full definition

A wet slip is an in-water boat storage berth where the boat floats year-round (or during the boating season) tied between dock pilings or floating fingers. Wet slips eliminate the need to launch and retrieve the boat for every use, making them ideal for owners who boat weekly or live-aboard. They typically include shore power (30A or 50A), water hookup, and pump-out service. Drawbacks: ongoing exposure to weather, hull growth (requires bottom paint or weekly cleaning), and the highest monthly cost of any boat storage type.

Pricing note

Wet slip rates typically run $20-$60 per foot per month for transient boats, with annual season contracts often discounted 15-25%.
