Glossary
A multi-level rack system where boats are stored indoors and launched on demand by forklift.
Dry stack (also called rack storage or dry stack marina) is a boat storage system where boats are stored on multi-level steel racks inside a building, then launched into the water on demand using a hydraulic forklift. Boats are typically stored bow-out for fast retrieval. Owners call ahead (typically 30 minutes to 2 hours) and the marina staff pulls the boat, fuels it if requested, and launches at the dock. Advantages: better hull protection (no bottom growth, no UV exposure), security, often cheaper than wet slip for boats under 35 feet. Limitations: weight and beam restrictions (typically max 30,000 lbs and 10 ft beam), launch hours, and per-launch fees beyond the included allowance.
Dry stack typically runs $150-$450 per month for boats under 30 feet, with 4-8 free launches per month included.
