Glossary
The largest type of motorized RV, built on a heavy-duty bus or truck chassis, typically 28-45 feet long.
Class A motorhomes are the largest motorized RVs, built on heavy-duty bus or commercial truck chassis. Length ranges from 28 to 45 feet (the legal maximum for non-commercial vehicles in most states). Two engine layouts: gas-pusher (engine in front, more common in 28-36 ft units) and diesel-pusher (engine in rear, dominant in 38-45 ft units). Diesel pushers are premium ($300K-$1M new) and require purpose-built storage with extra-tall clearance (13-14 ft) and reinforced concrete pads. Class A storage demand peaks in northern states October-April as full-timers head south. Insurance and registration costs for Class A are 2-3x higher than smaller RVs - factor into storage decisions.
Class A storage: outdoor $120-$250/mo, covered $200-$400, indoor $300-$700.
